Marisabel Borja is a Chicago-based interior designer whose work is shaped by a hospitality-driven approach to creating thoughtful, enduring spaces. Born and raised in El Salvador, she brings a global perspective and a deep appreciation for how architecture, culture, and materiality influence the way people experience their environment.

She holds a Master of Architecture from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and has contributed to hospitality projects across the United States and internationally, including the renovation of the Chicago Marriott Lincolnshire Resort, the world’s largest semi-custom Residence Inn, and the Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel.

As a Senior Designer at Antunovich Associates, Marisabel led projects spanning hospitality, multifamily residential, and mixed-use developments. Her work includes The Citizen in Chicago, recipient of the 2020 MHN Excellence Award for Adaptive Reuse, along with a range of hotel renovations and ground-up developments that required close collaboration with owners, operators, consultants, and multidisciplinary design teams.

Today, through MBK Atelier, Marisabel partners with clients to create refined residential and boutique commercial interiors rooted in a strong sense of place. Drawing from years of hospitality design, she believes the most memorable spaces are those that balance beauty with purpose—where every material, detail, and proportion contributes to an experience that feels effortless, timeless, and deeply personal.
